The foremost goal of the International Trends and Services facet is to provide opportunities for tangible service in other countries.

International Trends &  Services

The mission of the International Trends and Services facet is to expand the global platform for programs designed and developed to service the educational, health and cultural needs of people of African descent throughout the world. All programmatic components of the facet are delivered through measurable and sustainable service delivery methods that reach women and their families.

Our “boots on the ground” approach provides for more personalized methods for assisting and improving the lives of women, children and men worldwide through long-term programs committed to empowerment and public policy leadership in advocating for social justice. The Dade County Chapter continues to implement  the following programs:

International Day of the Girl Child is an international observance day declared by the United Nations and observed each year on October 11th. The Dade County Chapter in partnership with Florida Memorial University celebrates this day with an event for students on campus. Topics include gender disparities in the workforce that affect women throughout the world and equip each student with the tools needed to tackle the challenges that may exist as they become future leaders. This inequality includes areas such as access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination, violence against women and forced child marriage.

Blindfolded International Student Cultural Exchange Program (BISCEP)

The Dade County (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, is proud to support the Blindfolded International Student Cultural Exchange Program (BISCEP)—a visionary initiative dedicated to cultivating global citizenship and profound empathy. By bridging the distances between South Florida, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, BISCEP creates a unique tapestry of cross-cultural understanding for our youth.

At the heart of this program is the evocative concept of being "blindfolded." This intentional experiential approach encourages participants to temporarily set aside their preconceived notions and comfort zones. By engaging through a specialized educational lens, students are invited to experience unfamiliar cultures through the power of openness, trust, and authentic curiosity.
