The foremost goal of the International Trends and Services facet is to provide opportunities for tangible service in other countries.

International Trends &  Services

The mission of the International Trends and Services facet is to expand the global platform for programs designed and developed to service the educational, health and cultural needs of people of African descent throughout the world. All programmatic components of the facet are delivered through measurable and sustainable service delivery methods that reach women and their families.

Our “boots on the ground” approach provides for more personalized methods for assisting and improving the lives of women, children and men worldwide through long-term programs committed to empowerment and public policy leadership in advocating for social justice. The Dade County Chapter continues to implement  the following programs:

International Day of the Girl Child is an international observance day declared by the United Nations and observed each year on October 11th. The Dade County Chapter in partnership with Florida Memorial University celebrates this day with an event for students on campus. Topics include gender disparities in the workforce that affect women throughout the world and equip each student with the tools needed to tackle the challenges that may exist as they become future leaders. This inequality includes areas such as access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination, violence against women and forced child marriage.

Church World Services

Refugee Assistance Program

Moving In

The Dade County Links Inc. in partnership with Church World Services (CWS) is assisting refugee families with resettling to the Miami–Dade area. To date, refugee assistance has been provided to families from Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, and Jamaica. The chapter is assisting the families with furnishing their apartments, coordinating college tours and enrollment, and other activities to assist them with learning the culture and infrastructure within Miami. The goal is to assist each family for a minimum of 6 months until new family assignments are made from Church World Services.
